Art & Antiques
Visit our Vancouver showroom or bid on-line for the finest Arts and Antiques or contact us to have your items appraised.

Maynards' Arts & Antiques can provide appraisal reports and expert witness testimony to support asset values.  Our appraisal reports are used for insurance, estate planning or estate distribution and fair market value analysis.

Insurance - An appraisal for insurance purposes is an evaluation based on replacement value.  It is the cost that one would incur of replacing a particular item with another similar object in the event of loss or damage.  Due to the rarety of the item and the fact that it may not be readily available on an open market at any given time, the value for insurance purposes quite often exceeds what one might receive if sold privately or through auction.

Estate Planning/Distribution - Whether planning your estate or assisting an executor with the distribution of assets, Maynards personnel are fully equipped to assist both first-time and professional executors through every step of the appraisal, auction and settlement process.  We will provide an accurate fair value of the estate assets based on current market conditions and provide detailed information on specific items to assist beneficiaries in deciding to keep specific items or not.

Should an estate decide to dispose of some or all of the assets, Maynards can include them in an upcoming auction.

Fair Market Value - A "Fair Market Value Appraisal" (FMV) is the price your property would realize in the current market.  A FMV appraisal may be required by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) or the Internal Revenue Service for both estate tax purposes or to support donation receipts to charitable organizations.  CRA defines "Fair Market Value" as "the highest price available, estimated in terms of money, which a willing seller may obtain for the property in an open and unrestrictred market from a willing, knowledgable purchaser acting at arm's length."  In most cases, prices achieved at public auction fit this description.

If you would like further information on our appraisals reports or to schedule an appointment, contact any one of our Arts & Antiques personnel.
